Euridge for the win!
Fantastic news for Euridge Manor.
Euridge Manor is a wedding & events venue on the very edge of the Cotswolds, just shy of Colerne, thus being a stone's throw from the renown Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa.
Following the conclusion of what appeared to be a lengthly planning appeal process, Wiltshire Council has secured controlling conditions to ensure that Euridge Manor, near Colerne, can continue to host weddings at the venue, while minimising disruption on the local community.
When Euridge wanted to host wedding and events at the venue, a retrospective planning application was submitted to the council, but this was refused due to a lack of detail and information, particularly around highways access, noise landscape and ecology, which was not provided to the council on request.
As the application was refused, the council then issued an enforcement notice on the venue, as it had continued to host events on the site that were in breach of planning regulations, causing concern among local residents.
Despite this, the council considered that planning permission could potentially be granted for weddings and other events with some conditions, particularly around traffic and noise. For this reason, the council accepted the submission of a second planning application rather than decide to reject the application because of the existence of an enforcement notice, for which there would have been no right of appeal.
This second application included a new access track, but it did not contain the level of information required to demonstrate acceptable impacts and once the statutory period for the council to approve or reject the application had passed, the applicant appealed for 'non-determination', which means that the applicant believed that the council had not processed the application within the agreed timescale.
Following a nine-day public inquiry, planning permission was granted with a range of conditions to control noise and address highway safety concerns. The council can also take enforcement action if the planning permission is breached. Costs were awarded to both sides.
Cllr Adrian Foster, said: "This is a positive outcome, because it not only ensures that the business can continue to operate, bringing jobs and economic prosperity to the area, but it also ensures that the concerns of local residents - particularly around noise and access to the site - have been addressed."
Euridge Manor hosts some of the most extravagant and luxury weddings & events in the area, one recent wedding was staged over three days, but looking at the views you get from the Lost Orangery, who can blame them.
Euridge has also welcomed high profiled guests such as Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark), who married in 2022, along with professional footballer Carl Ikeme also opting for the manor for the vows he made to his now wife Saba.
